Teven, New South Wales

Teven is a village located on the Far North Coast of New South Wales (in Australia).

Administratively it is part of the Ballina Shire. It is located about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) or 9 minutes car drive north-west from Ballina along the Pacific Highway. Sydney, the state capital, is located approximately 750 kilometres (470 mi) or 8.5 hours car drive south from Teven.

Demographics

In the 2006 Census of Population and Housing, Teven is represented as a State suburb (SSC 19019).

In 2006 there were approximately 595^[1] usual residents living in Tintenbar. Of this count, 298 (or 50%) were males and 297 (or 50%) were females. The median age for persons living in Tintenbar was 44 years. By age, 19% of the population were under 15 years old, 68% were between 15 and 65, and 12% were over 65 years old.

Most people living in Tintenbar were born in Australia (85%).

Economy

According to the 2006 Census of Population and Housing^[1], the median invididual income was $456 per week (equal to approximately $23,777 per year). The median family income in 2006 was $1,114 per week (equal to approximately $64,292 per year); and, the median household income in 2006 was $1,167 per week (equal to approximately $60,851 per year).

There were 292 people employed in 2006 (to give an employment to working age population ratio of 0.72), and 14 people unemployed. The most common occupations were Managers (23%); Professionals (18%); and, Sales Workers (14%). The top 5 industries for employment were Legal and Accounting Services (5.1%); Sheep, Beef Cattle and Grain Farming (4.5%); School Education (4.5%); Supermarket and Grocery Stores (4.1%); and, Allied Health Services (3.8%).
